Chaikowsky Faina 1910-2000

1910 Harbin – 2000

By the Family

Faina was one of 5 siblings born to Jacob and Ustinia Fetissoff in Harbin in 1910. Her mother was a homemaker. Her father held a good position with the railroad and the family lived fairly well for a number of years. Later on, when the communists invaded the country, the family had to leave and they immigrated to Canada.

In 1926, the family sailed to Canada aboard the ship The Alabama Maru and settled in Richmond, formerly known as Lulu Island. At 18 years of old, Faina met and married Sergei Chaikowsky from which union one daughter Cleopatra was born. The marriage dissolved after 16 years.

Faina became active in the Russian Church donating her time to the church, bazaars and teas. In 1970, Faina received an award of recognition for her long standing dedication to the church and donations to the bazaars.

She began her own doll business and worked very hard to support herself and her daughter. Gradually, over the years her health began to fail; however she continued with her doll business on a limited basis because it was her hobby as well as her life’s work.

She is now in Gods hands and will sadly missed by her loving family and friends!

Memory Eternal!
