
Very Reverend Father Stephen Basil Slipko, son of the late Charles Slipko and Mrs. Mary Slipko of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, was born in New York City, New York. He spent most of his youth in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, graduating from Ambridge High School in 1960. He attended St. Andrew’s College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada graduating in 1964, with Licenseship of Divinity.
In June of 1966 was ordained into Deaconate by Metropolitan John Theodorovich in Bala-Cynmyd, Pennsyvlania. Served as a deacon in his home Parish, St.Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church, with priest Rev. Michael Yarosh.
On December, 24, 1967, was ordained into the Holy Priesthood by Metropolitan Mstyslaw and was assigned as Priest in charge of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Slickville, Pennsyvlania. He served this parish from January 1968 until his move to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in May 1976.
For approximately five years he served St. Nicholas Orthodox Church a mission parish in Surrey, B.C. under the omophorion of Bishop Andrei, of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of America.
From September 1990 until November 1995 he served a mission parish St Elias Orthodox Church in New Westminster, B.C. under the omophorion of His Grace Bishop Seraphim of the Orthodox Church in America of Ottawa and Canada.
Presently, he is attached to Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Vancouver, B.C., as a supply priest.
He is married to the former Mary Olynyk of Buchanana, Saskatchewan, Canada. They have two children, a daughter Larissa married to Michael Koke and a son Jason. He is also holding a secular job with the B.C. Transit.
