THE CREED (SYMBOL OF FAITH)

The Symbol of Faith is a short but precise exposition of the main principles of our Christian faith. In other words, the Creed teaches us about Christian belief. The Fathers of the 1st and 2nd Ecumenical Councils formulated this teaching. The Creed consists of 12 short parts and as our tradition teaches us we should recite the Creed every morning and evening so that when the hour of death comes we would be confessing our faith by the word of the Apostle (Romans 10, 9-10).

The Confession of Faith

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages
Light of Light; true God of true God;
begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven,
and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man
And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried.
And the third day He rose from the dead, according to the Scriptures,
And He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father;
and He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead; whose Kingdom shall have no end
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father;
who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets
In one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. -Amen.

I believe in Our God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in One God the Father, who holds everything. He is Creator of heaven and earth and all visible and invisible (material and spiritual world).

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages.
Light of Light, true God of True God, begotten not made, of One Essence with the Father, by whom all things were made.

I believe in One Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, who came from the Father before all ages.

Who for us men and for our salvation came down from Heavens and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man.
I believe that He is God s Son, who came down from Heavens to earth for our sake in order to save people. He was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and took a human body on himself from the Holy Virgin Mary and became man.

And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate and suffered and was buried.
I believe that He, Jesus Christ, Son of God was crucified at the time of Pontius Pilate that he suffered for us as human and he was buried.

And the third day He rose from the dead according to the Scriptures.
I believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day as the prophets had foretold.

And He ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father.
I believe that after this resurrection, Jesus Christ ascended into Heavens and sat at the right hand of God the Father, which shows His divine equality with Him.

And he shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead whose Kingdom shall have no end.
I believe that He, Jesus Christ (in glory not as a slave but as tsar and judge) will come to earth to give judgment of the living and the dead and His kingdom shall have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life who proceeds from the Father, and the Son together is worshipped and glorified who spoke by the prophets.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the true God, who gives life to everything, who comes from God the Father. He is equally worshipped and glorified together with God the Father and God the Son. I believe, that he (God the Holy Spirit) spoke to the prophets and foretold through the prophets.

And in the One Holy, Universal Apostolic Church.
I believe in the only one true holy universal church. The word Church should be understood as a universal society of believers in God of all ages and peoples, not only human but also angels united by the name of the world's Saviour, by the evangelical and right Apostolic teaching under one head – our Lord Jesus Christ (B. Catechism).

I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins.

I believe and confess that the Sacrament of Baptism, performed in the right way should not be repeated and that it serves for the remission of sins.

I look for the resurrection of the dead.
I expect resurrection of the dead and believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. All the dead will come back to life and every soul is going to be united with the body.

And the life of the world to come. Amen.
I believe and expect that after the resurrection of the dead there will be life for believers and righteous people in the future. This life will be eternal, joyous and blessed. Truly it is so!
