She was the daughter of Alexander and Paraskewa Wolyniec. Edna lived on a farm in Alberta until 1952 when the family decided to move to Richmond, British Columbia. Edna was 19 years old at this time and started working for B.C. Parkers, as a fish processor. Edna also worked for Canadian Pacific Airlines in the flight kitchen. She married in 1956 to Bill Smart. On March 31, 1958 their daughter Debie was born. During those early years Edna adored her precious daughter Debie who later became very ill. She had to bear many, many sad moments as a mother.<\/p>\n
Edna loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidery, reading, bowling and listening to country music. Edna’s last place of full time employment was with Canadian Linen Supply Company where she worked on the flat iron, sorting and bundling. Edna worked as a volunteer at 411 Seniors in 1990. In 1992 she received additional training from Vancouver School Board in the Metro Vancouver Employment program and also a certificate from the Ministry of Tourism in Super Host.<\/p>\n
Edna s traits of having a heart of gold, being patient, a good listener and helpful to others proved to show how many friends Edna kept over the years due to being a true and loyal friend. Although Edna endured many hardships and pain in her life, she never complained to family or friends. Edna passed away peacefully on December 1, 2000 at Mount St.Joseph Hospital with her family by her side. She will be missed by all of us.
