Our parishioner Yuri Gusev died on March 8, 2023 as a result of an illness.

The funeral service for Yuri (in the baptism of George) was held at the Monastery of All Saints of North America on Devdni 11 March.
Yuri is buried in our Orthodox cemetery.

Memoirs of his wife Lyudmila:

Yuri Vladimirovich Gusev was born on September 2, 1964 in a family of teachers. Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

A creative, bright and inquisitive person with a wonderful sense of humor, a romantic with a kind open smile.

Yuri grew up in nature, he always felt it very subtly, admired, appreciated and shore. Every morning he tried to fill the bird feeders. Over the years, thousands of wonderful nature photographs have accumulated – he was an excellent photographer.

From childhood, Yuri strove for knowledge, loved to study very much, always looked forward to the end of school holidays. Early fell in love with physics and chemistry, spent many evenings in the school physics and chemistry rooms doing various experiments. He read all the books and magazines in the school library. Favorite magazines were Kvant, Young Naturalist, Young Technician.

Yuri had a unique ability to read diagonally, collected a huge library of fiction and scientific literature on physics and mathematics.

It was very interesting to talk with Yuri on any topic. In the family he was called “encyclopedia” – no matter what you ask – he knows everything.

Yuri came to Canada by invitation, having received a prestigious scholarship from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. He worked at universities, research centers in Canada, Russia, Germany, Brazil, and other countries. Scientific articles in leading journals testify to his contribution to the development of physics.

Organized, responsible, hardworking, Yuri never gave up in the face of difficulties, he always came to the aid of others without having to call and ask.

Yuri was an indispensable assistant and support to his parents, wife and son.
